The game will last 7 Days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.
Feel free to comment and/or ask questions at any time. This is a good competition for learning new methods, so let's make it a bit more dynamic. I will be judging edits, not comments. Feel free to comment on the original image as well.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #440."

Game ends Saturday, 8th September at 7:30pm BST.

Have fun.

I have no idea what the problem was, I cancelled it from Dropbox and re-sent. Hope that works - please PM me if it doesn't.

EDIT : 1Tanker was correct, I posted a TIF not the RAW file - sorry!

It's a TIF..and 120MB. I don't know why Nigel posted that beast, and not a RAW file.

Thanks. It's ok now. I think there will be a great participation for this one as this pic seems to have a nice potential.

So, I had to straighten it a little, to me it was leaning to the right a tad,
With this particular image I adjusted using lightroom

exposure +.1, recovery 0, fill light 34, blacks 2, brightness +50, contrast +25, clarity +45, vibrance -10

Now the colours

HUE: Yellow -44 (bringing this back made the brick work look more "clay like") green +29, blue +13 (I thought bumping the green up and blue gave the sky and water a nice turquoise look)

SAT: orange +46, (to again enhance the bricks), green +38 to (keep the trees alive) blue +31 (again for the sky and water + boat hull)

LUM: orange +17 (Bricks) yellow -48 (tone down the highlights in the trees and bricks)

I think thats about it

A great image to start with here! I used a plugin in Aperture call Viveza 2. So basically there are about 15 control points throughout the image to brighten, increase contrast, saturation and structure. All about bringing out the colors and creating some depth.

I also straightened it out a bit and added some sharpening using a slider in Aperture.

I wish I could be more descriptive here! :)

Cloned out boats and people in photoshop. Adjusted wb, and split tone in lightroom until i was happy with the blue sky (temp +6, tint-1), then split toned with blue hue to get sky and colors to pop. Back to photoshop and played with tonal contrast a little. Then erased away the sky and water in that layer so only buildings had this effect.

Morning all...

yb98 - DPP++ does a very good job at bringing more life into this - well done.
Milutiche - Good straightening and subtle colours, the castle is just a bit pinkish for me.
jdaly - Sometimes these plug ins give a really good result and this is one of those times. Good straightening as well.
Dawicka2 - You were very busy with the clone tool but it doesn't represent a true view of the scene for me - sorry. Also a bit magenta-ish.

So this week's winner and over to you for #440 - jdaly. Thanks to those who took part.
