I might be doing something wrong be when I go to auto ISO the ISO stays at 400. If I go into auto iso on my mkIV it changes like its supposed to.

Why do they have auto iso if it only stays at 400?

I normally shoot in manual but my 50d is a remote camera where the lighting changes. I need my shutter and aperture to stay the same and that is where auto ISO comes into play.

let me know if I'm doing something wrong, thanks!

Unfortunately it's locked at 400 in M. It'll change in program, Av, and Tv modes, but for what you're trying to do you may be SOL. Only bodies introduced after (and including) the 7D have the feature you're looking for.
