Did a search before posting but couldn't find much info on this. Someone I know locally is selling a 1-light Einstein kit at a very nice price and I think I'm going to buy it. After doing some research on Einstein's, it looks like there are 2 or 3 different hardware versions. Only info I could find is that the v2's have curved 'finger' clips around the light. Are there any other differences and is there even a v3 Einstein?

Seller says that the Einstein is exactly one year old, so that should make it at least a v2, right?

The "versions" were fixes PCB made to the modifier locking mechanism.

Call Customer Service, or send them an email with the SN. They will be able to tell you if It has the latest attachment mod. If it doesn't send it to them and they will fix it.

There also may be a firmware update required. There are instructions on the website for doing that as well.

If you don't want to get involved in that, let me know by PM who has it for sale and I'll buy it. :-)

You will need to verify but I think the whole face plate was redesigned on v2 because of overheating. Could have been some interior mods for the heat issue as well.

Jerry,
I think you are right.
I remember having to send mine back for that. And they fixed the modifier attachment as well.

Do they have three versions? I was only aware of two, what was changed in the third version?

There are only two recognized by Buff as far as I am know.

I think the V3 is the OP's speculation. Some of the finger updating has been done without calling it a newer version.

None of the Buff information even refers to versions. I expect that is because they will update any unit to the latest spec whenever its sent to them for any other repair.
