I'd say you already own it: the EF 50mm f/1.8 II. It's a damned sharp lens, and dollar for dollar, you can't buy a better lens. It was my walk-around for years. I broke it, but I got 5 or 6 good years out of it.

Another vote for the Tammy 28-75 here. Excellent PQ, also light and small.
