Co-workers of mine know I'm a bit of a shutterbug (don't know why, but that term, though accurate, annoys me).
So when the walking sticks were active recently I was informed sufficiently to take a few shots.
These two shots are taken on an exterior wall, but in a nook/alcove, so lighting required a flash, and all I had handy was the on-board. I'm guessing these are twostriped walkingsticks, Anisomorpha buprestoides:
That's actually two walking sticks, one male, one female, doing what males and females sometimes do. The male is the smaller one. Here's a different perspective, rotated for effect:
And here is a much thinner, green-legged walking stick (solo) from the next day, rotated to see easier (but actually was walking up a wall). Diapheromera femorata perhaps?:
And finally here is a horsefly I spotted the same day, just crawling around on the ground/sidewalk. Black Horse Fly (Tabanus atratus)?:
Dang, that was a big fly. About 1.5" long, and either it was injured, dying or just stunned, because it crawled along quite slowly, didn't fly at all.
