I was out walking last weekend, and came across these fellas.

Great shots Noel. Lovely colour and detail.

Actually, I'd mentioned in another thread on a different forum that there appear to be a massive increase in numbers of the Helophilus Hoverflies (the ones in your photos). I'm seeing these in huge volumes as opposed to marmalade hovers and other species. Drone flies appear to have had a large boost too.

The blown yellows are due to the fact I was walking away and realised i hadn't diffused the flash! (Rookie mistake)
