Both are really good camera during its time. If you desire a more robust AF and don't mind sacrificing smaller LCD, quirky ergonomics and weight, the 1ds2 is a great camera.
The 5dc is also wonderful in its own right. Delivers real pleasing images that I kinda miss once in a while. I thought its max iso of 3200 was useable (same as 1ds2). Easily cleans up in LR.

Thanks. From that I take it you consider they are about a match for each other image quality wise?

Based on my recollection of discussions at the time, the added resolution of the 1Ds was said to be more forgiving of noise.

As long as you expose to get highlights close to the sensor's upper limit, ISO 3200 can be used, I agree. DXO mark shows the SNR to be a little better on the 1DsII, although I've never tried this camera.

In terms of cost, I believe the 5DII is closer to the 1Dsii, which should do better at high ISOs.

you couldn't have gone wrong with either. 1ds2 produces slightly better image quality in my opinion but cost and weight might be a negative factor for you. You will love the 5D!
