I think everything is super except they look a little flat ... although I'm not sure I could light that crowd any better! :-) What I really want to know is how you triggered the camera? :-)

I noticed that they were flat, but I have no idea what causes that. Too much fill, or BG light, maybe?

I'll give you a hint on how I triggered it....

"Beeeep Beeeep Beeep Beeep Beeep Beeep, bebebebebebebebe.... click." ;) I fell twice, while trying to get back in frame after pressing the shutter button.

Funny tidbit: I told my nephew to watch the lens, and smile, because if the "Alien Bees" caught him looking away, while the camera was beeping, they were going to come out & get him.

He believed it.

I really love the third one... nice family photo! It's great you got everyone to co-operate, even with the Bee fear factor! :)

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Flat lighting means that the light from all directions is about the same intensity ... a light on one side needs to be a bit brighter than on the other ... it can get very technical and people start talking about ratios and other fancy stuff. I am waiting for Frank's book to arrive so I can start to learn how to use my light meter in these conditions.

Yes, I just did our Christmas picture that way for the last time ... I just received from B&H today an ET-1000N3 which is a 30' extension cord for the shutter release. We are having a lot of family for Christmas and I want to be in the pictures for a change! :-)

I hope you appreciate how evil you are! Frightening young children should be left to professionals ... imitation Santas! :-)

Got it. Thanks. Frank's book??

I actually am ordering that, along with a Sekonic Lightmeter next week. :D
