The impressive Avro Vulcan finished the show at Bournemouth yesterday, just as the weather improved. Most of these shots are 100-400L on 7D, with the wide shot using the 17-40L on 5D2.

She flew in quite low over the sandy beach. I was shooting from the clifftop, so almost on a level with the aircraft.

Here you can just see the distant white cliffs of the Needles on the Isle of Wight at the bottom of the image.

A nice eye-level view.

A distant view as she turned back in. The ship is Royal Navy Type 42 Destroyer, HMS York.

A banked pass, showing the bomb doors open and the lovely delta shape.

Inside the bomb doors are thousands of names of people who have supported the running of the aeroplane. This crop from the last shot shows them.

Finally to show the layout of the seafront display, this wideangle shot with the Vulcan flying past.

Nice shoots, and great to see her still flying.

She obviously came closer inshore than the Spitfire and Hurricane did on Friday. I'd hoped to get some shots for my father, but they were both just too far away, even with my 100-400 and 1.4x converter. Also, for whatever reason the Spitfire disappeared after two runs, leaving the Hurricane on its own.

Nice shots, particularly the first one...shame about it being a hazy day though its taken away some the punch and clarity.....always loved the Vulcan, used to get them flyover my school in the 70s quite regular.....

I well remember the Vulcan flying over Shaftesbury in Dorset with a single Concorde engine strapped underneath. They used it as a flying test bed while developing Concorde and just one engine was enough.
