just got back from a cruise to Bermuda today.

unfortunately i realized i left my tripod in the room. :(

im holding out hope that someone found it and turned it in, but i cant call lost and found until Tuesday.

in any case if i cant get my tripod back, it along with all my gear is insured. is it worth it to file a claim for the tripod? its a manfrotto 055probx with a giattos head. probably ~$300 to replace.

Well surely this isn't really a question anyone can answer for you - since only you know the terms of your insurance, ie what your excess is, and whether or not it's worth it to you.

$300 isnt even worth claiming. 10 to 1 it will bring up red flags with the company also to watch your claims. Had a friend who would claim just about everything. Had a bunch of stupid small claims (scratched his truck driving in the woods, had a small wood box fall on the hood of his car in the garage causing 2 minor scratches, pitched a rock through his cars side window with a mower, broke a taillight with his boat trailer backing up towards it, etc). Well when he t-boned a car which turned left in front of his truck, his insurance company dropped not only his auto policy, dropped his wifes policy and their home owners insurance also. Had to have his parents get involved (had the same agent and have TONS of stuff insured from their business to collector cars and houses) just to get his home owners reinstated. And yes his premiums went up big time. All this over a bunch of claims that were under $500.

Is it a crappy, beat up, hard to open and have stay up, salt-encrusted, stiff, scratched, heavy, large, hard and uncomfortable tripod? If so, then you're in luck - you can never get rid of them . . .

Cheers, Damien

lol, its less than a year old, rarely used. i forgot i even brought it with me and left it in the closet. didn't realize until i got home and my wife asked where it was.i was to busy worrying about getting the camera/lenses and laptop home.

i will call lost and found when they open on Tuesday. my wife also informed me we had insurance on the trip that covers lost personal property and my credit card also offers some type of travel insurance.

hoping lost and found has it though...

i called them three times, two cruises came and went and nothing. the last time i called, i filed a statement that i reported it lost so that i could file a claim thought the travel insurance, then they called me yesterday saying they found it and were mailing it back.

i probably should have sone that from the start and i suggest anyone who leaves something on a cruise to do that, I think the girl in charge of L&F had the service check the room, since the tripod was in the closet and the cleaning crew probably didn't see it.
