Getting a Card Write Protected Error on my XSI

I have an XSI, I'm guessing around 5-6 years old. Haven't had any issues previously, but all of a sudden I get an error that says "Card write protected" when I turn the camera on.

-I have two SD cards and it does this with both of them
-The switches on the cards are not in locked mode
-Both cards work in my other Canon P&S
-I have blown air through the slot in the XSI, inserted the cards several times and tried different batteries
-The cards both work fine on my computer.

So I've concluded that is it an issue with the camera and not the cards. Unfortunately this is several days before I leave for a trip so I am hoping for a quick fix.

There are several threads on this issue from other folks, but no solutions were gained from any of them.

Appreciate any ideas.

Updates: I have also cleared the settings on the camera.

I had the same thing happen last weekend, I formatted the card on my laptop and o my desktop and it still states same thing. I called Lexar today and they said the card is corrupt. Since it is a professional series card it has a lifetime warranty. I have a RMA# to trade it out.

The cards seem to both be working fine on my P&S which is why I'm thinking its the camera and not the card, but I'll try formatting one of the cards on the PC and see if it does anything.

I would try formatting the card in the camera only. According to a book that I read about the XSI that was written by David Bush you should never format in the computer. I have also read that you shouldn't swap cards between other cameras. To me that's cheap insurance to not have memory card problems. If formatting in the camera doesn't work I would buy a cheap card and try that.

Not able to format in camera because of the write protection. I may buy a cheap new card and see if it solves the issue, although it still wouldn't make too much sense.

Thanks

Nope, no dice.

Also tried a brand new SD card, same issue.

Too bad. Any clue what that would take to fix? I'll call Canon in the morning, hopefully its not something I have to send it in for.

Unfortunately looks like bad news for me.

Canon said it needed to be sent in with a repair fee of $190. Even took it to a local shop to ask and they said the same.

Guess its P&S time for this vacation.

was wondering what you found out by calling Canon. It sucks that you need to send these things away for repair. It couldn't have happened at a worse time for you. I have an XSI that I've had probably 4 years without any trouble. If I can scrape the money together I want to trade it for a 7d. Hopefully before something goes wrong with it.

Yeah awful timing, appreciate the help though. Now I have to decide whether its worth the Canon repair or not.
