A lot of people are going to be looking for inexpensive options with the new pricing at smugmug. I was looking at Photocrati themes and thought it looked like a good alternative.

A few questions for photocrati users:

-do they offer support after the purchase?
-How well does the shopping cart work?
-are the built-in themes nice enough, or too basic?

I too looked into them. I have 2 smugmugs, one of which gets to renew at $150, the other renews at the regular price in May. So given I'm about to renew 1, I'm trying to hold off on the other switching to wordpress theme until a bit later. i also looked into another theme but it was around $199. Looked good too.

Hi Tom,

I work at Photocrati and would be happy to talk with you about the theme. Feel free to shoot me an email. scott(at)photocrati.com

-do they offer support after the purchase? Totally!
-How well does the shopping cart work? Right now it is extremely simple, but a more robust eCommerce system is being developed
-are the built-in themes nice enough, or too basic? The beauty about the theme is that it is easy enough for anyone, but can be customized to the extreme. For example, my personal website (linked in my signature) looks nothing like the demos on the Photocrati website.

Hope that helps!

^ can you provide some insight on how you customized your site? I looked into photocrati before but couldn't it to work that look different from the demo sites.

Thanks for the feedback. We are looking more at photocrati and will likely purchase the theme this month!

I customized my site by using the built-in layout options to get the core how I liked it, and then adjusted all fonts, colors and then some more advanced CSS changes. There is also a Dynamic CSS option in the theme for advanced users.

Scott, I believe there is a default setting for right clicking, but can there be "locked" password protected galleries?

Thanks.

No problem... It works too..

Below is a totally practice version of the website just for hacking around and not worrying about messing anything up..

Click on Client galleries. The 2 are password protected. You can have private set as well.

I'm really liking this. The more I use it the more sense it all makes. Not to hard of a learning curve...

I'm looking for some music loops as well...

Yes bps.. I've had Bluehost for years, but never took advantage of all they have to offer.. With Smugmugs price increase, I'm now looking for other options... And THANK YOU....

looks good so far! Did you set up the shopping cart yet? Could you add it to the sample gallery so we can see what that looks like?

As requested... It is actually VERY slick.... I don't know what happens after you complete the purchase, but I imagine it sends an email order of some sorts...
