Never saw anything for $1750. Which dealer?

Amazon. Did a simple manipulation to the "My Deals" preferences/suggestions to further discount the already low holiday deal.

Regular lowest I have seen was close to $1890 or so.

Well regardless, If I were OP, I'd wait a few months to see if the lens could be had for under $1900.

Edit: now that I think about it, I remember something funky happening with a price match, despite Amazon stating they don't price match. Still, the price would have been maybe 1800-1850ish.

Yes, buy it. I had the version I and change for the II. The difference is amazing I use it sometimes with a TC2XIII and adding a Kenko DG 1.4x on my 5DMKII and the image sharpness still amazing - GO !

Mine just came in the mail about 30 minutes ago. I picked it up while the rebate from Canon was still going. Bought it for $2,100.

What a huge difference from the MK1!!!! The contrast is better and you wanna talk fast! There's a noticeable difference in focus speed between the 1 and 2. Try and wait for a rebate, otherwise wait for the holidays. Regardless, get this lens!

Mike

This is what has me torn. I have a pending deal on the MK1 and I keep seeing stunning images from the MK1, yet all I keep reading is how much better and more noticable the difference is on the MK2.

Guess I'll use the MK1 for a while and if I decide to upgrade I won't lose too much $, just spend a bunch more.

The Mk1 is fantastic. The only reason I upgraded is because I needed a lens that was sharp at f/2.8 for night time sports. The Mk2 is sharp wide open, whereas the Mk1 isn't super sharp until f/4. If you don't need to shoot wide open all the time, then stick with the Mk1.

This is the best lens I have ever used. Some people say its to heavy, but I use this bad boy for almost everything now. Paired with a Black Rapid strap its wonderful. Buy it now and enjoy using it the next 3-4 months!

do what your hearts tell you... if you feel that its a must have lens, and the price and time is right.. might as well get it!!! cause think about.. one way or other that lens been on your mind lately.. soon or later you'll just end up getting it...

- why not get it now when the price is right plus you save extra couple hundred of dollars which simply can go back into your savings or buy extra gears that you may need... :D

I got mines during May which was couple of month ago, I hardly even use it when i do, everyone stairs at me (googly eyes) like they never seen a pro white lens out in public... thats why my 35L prime is on the camera body majority of the time or the BRICK.. when i do use the 70-200mm.. its most likely sport events or need a closer range.. but love bringing it to the zoo!
