I have a problem with my 1000d
When I switch on the camera it doesn't work unless I remove the battery and reload it.
Every time I want to use the camera I should remove then put back the battery.
NB The problem is not in the on/off switch.
Can anyone help.
Thank you

Any chance the battery door (or its sensor switch) is a bit loose? That could cause the camera to think the door is open.

Does it work if you just open and close the door or do you have to actually remove the battery before it starts working again?

First off, there is a menu item for resetting your camera back to defaults.. Try that first.

If that fails, go to Canon's website, and flash the camera to the latest firmware. If you are running the latest firmware- flash it anyways.

Next up- pull the batteries and let it sit for a while.. I am not sure about the 1000D- but it may also have a CMOS type (watch) battery as well. Others might chime in - if they know.

You should also probably switch memory cards and even do a low level format on them.

After that- I am out of ideas.

Edit: that's a very good point about the door... Try pushing the door closed while it is closed- to see if it comes to life..

Thanks
I actually should remove the battery.
The battery door and sensors are not the problem
