For me 35 1.4L, maybe there are other with good IQ and reasonable price (28 1.8 or 35 2 ?). It's for party-dj movies in lowlight, with the remaining cash I can maybe buy some other stuff...

I have the 28mm f/1.8 on a crop. It has good IQ. The 35L has great IQ. The 28mm is most likely temporary until I can afford the 24L or the 35L. I still haven't decided which. Who knows though, as it is a nice lens.

I have the 28mm f/1.8, a left over from when I shot crop only. It's a good enough lens for me to hang onto for wide angle on my 5D3. The IQ is good, and it's AF is ring USM, so it is quick and smooth. I do not need a fast wide prime often enough to spend the money for a 24L or 35L.

That's just going backwards...you do know that the L is not just about fast aperture...

35mm f2 has much better edge/corner performance on FF, but pentagon bokeh, so it is not an easy choice. I've seen some people running 40mm f2.8 on FF lately.

Sigma 24mm f1.8? Center is sharp enough and focal lengh is more interesting that 30-35mm. Also it can focus ridiculously close thus it is a unique lens. Try one if you can.

I have the 28mm 1.8 on 5D and previously had the 35mm 2.0 on crop. The build quality, AF and aperture blades are much better on the 28mm and IQ is good enough IMO. I'm not a pixel peeper.
