I use the official eBay app. It works well for me. With about 12-15 minutes left on the auction, it will send a notification which will vibrate and sound a tone. If I'm bidding on an item and I get outbid, it will send another notification.

The biggest gripe for me is that the "notes" don't work on the app. If I do a search on an item and like a few results, I'll watch them and go back into My eBay and add a note to each item. This way I can differentiate them in My eBay so I don't need to click on the listing to see which one I really wanted or if there were any problems with the product. I can't view the notes on the mobile eBay app. I do have the My eBay page bookmarked, so if I need to see it, I just open my browser.

There may be other apps out there that perform better. I pretty much always use the official app if it exists. A lot of these developers are getting greedy and are using excessive permissions. Data mining is becoming a big problem. Obviously, an eBay app would need a lot of permissions, so I don't really trust a third party if a first party app exists.

klr.b, thank you for the reply. I am a bit new to the smartphone gadgets, but I have noticed the permission issue also. I find this quite disturbing actually as I have noticed some third party ebay apps wanting excessive permissions. I will use the official ebay app also.

I use the Official eBay app and it works fine for me. I don't use the notes so I can't comment. I tend to use the official app if available. I don't like to give 3rd party apps too much access when it requires my password. Never know what will happen or what they will do.
