This is much MUCH better than the other shot with the overprocessed sky.
If you could get the natural sky/clouds from "036" and combine it with this foreground (much better foreground - has interesting elements) you would have a winner.
I would start thinking about exposure blends rather than tonemapping effects to avoid the dirty/sooty look of clouds.

Agree, this one has a super neat feel to it.( Yes, I was a child of the 60's, lol)

It might be just me but it seems tilted to the left a bit.

Must be distortion, the power poles in the Bg are straight?

I'm not crazy abut the wide crop but I guess it works for the composition. I like the colours in this a lot, it's almost like a Constable painting. I think you've over processed the clouds a little though - they're almost outlined and quite flat in places, and the treeline has a halo around it from being processed too much. Also, the dark clouds in the top left corner unbalance the tonal distribution of the image a little; since you have such dark colours in the lower half of the image, it'd be better to keep the to of the image light and airy. The dark top left corner is quite visually dominant and competes a little for attention.

This is a huge improvement over your last bunch of photos though.

I thought the same and checked it. It is tilted to the left. The telephone pole is tilted but the base of the central cloud formation is the principal culprit.
Edit: otherwise quite nice.

I hate horizons especially where there is none to be found easily .. please tell/show/point me on how you came to this conclusion; that would be awesome!

Had to look up who Constable was :) Thanks for the feedback everyone :)

One pole is to the left, the right is straight.or as straight as poles are....

What made it feel tilted to me is the angle of the base of the cloud formation in the center (arrow). Checking verticals of telephone poles; however, shows one on the left slightly tilted and to it's right seemingly straight. So I looked at the tree trunks as best as I could and they look straight. Soooo maybe it is indeed straight but it still feels tilted to me - maybe I'm tilted to the right.:)

Whaaaaat?! He's probably one of the most well known landscape painters ever! Actually, having a good knowledge of painting can really help your photography. Studying certain eras and styles of painting, especially Romanticism and Flemish painters, can really help you with colour and lighting, especially since these two styles focus a lot on very specific use of lighting situations for beautiful effect, and tended to have realistic colour palettes, yet retained a very particular stylised look which is very evocative. Understanding the art of painting is probably the best way to truly understand the art of using colour effectively and harmoniously.

You should get some books and do some reading, or go to some galleries and have a good look at the masters. You'll be amazed at how much you'll learn.
