Florida history......this state is overrun by greedy New Yorkers and other non-natives who want to develop the next cutesy golf-course community and I want to preserve our past for future generations

Started using a camera because I couldn't draw or paint. I shoot most everything because it is fun and I like taking pictures to save the pass as I can't remember anything anymore.:D

Suggestions welcome.

I shoot food commercially as a result of having shared a studio in the 80's with what was probably the top food photographer in the country at the time. (Interestingly, his career coincided with the commercialization of the food industry going back to the late 50's). It opened my eyes to a market that offered me everything I was looking for in photography: the opportunity to develop a specialty, the chance to spend all day in the studio working on 1 or 2 images, and the fact that once it's done, it's done. No opportunities to go back and make a food item that has expired look good again, so there isn't endless 'after the fact' noodling.

As it turned out, it was probably the best career decision I could have made. Going on 30 years now and still going strong.

My answer for most photography questions: "it depends...'

I have started and stopped shooting so many times- each time I start back up it is for a different reason. Their is an unbroken thread of shots taken to record events for the memories, but I have had my landscape period, my wildlife, architecture, macro, candid, events, and technical challenge periods too.

Right now I am challenged to get a particular bird shot and will spend many hours sitting and waiting and enjoying the zen of preparing and being "in the moment" weather the moment comes or not. It is a way to engage myself in something other than my daily life and escape into a visual and technical reality. Do you think my potato is baked?

Sports: I love playing sports, and I love watching sports... So, why not? I also love facial expressions; athletes have some really awesome expressions at times!
