I just put an SSD drive in my machine and I've been timing my start up time. Start up time is really about 45 sec but then it takes my Spyder 3 express another 30 sec to load. It took at least this long with my HD drive too.

Is this about how long it takes you monitor calibrator to load ?

I have noticed the calibration doesn't kick in for maybe 30-40 seconds after the computer boots. Since I only boot once a week it doesn't really matter how long it takes.

yep, it takes 45s - 1min until the monitor profile gets loaded. I've got an i7 2600k based system with an SSD, so I don't think system speed is an issue.

Yea thats one of the things they said they improved with the Spyder4 versions. Unfortunately it sounded like that was ALL they improved which made me decide it wasnt worth the money to upgrade. I can wait the 30-45 seconds for mine to kick in on boot up.

yeah I could see that, I mean it's not like with in 30-45s you are going to be in a full on rush to edit photos lol.

The Sypder4 has a better colorimeter (sensor thingy), I believe.

Yea, I know they say that, but they said the same thing about the 2 to the 3 and honestly I cant tell a bit of difference... I guess it means your monitor will be even MORE calibrated to a standard?
