Found this a mile off the highway...

...in the woods around Moose Pond, supposedly the ruins of an old hunting cabin.
The pond is a great destination.
A great place to eat lunch, meditate, pray, photograph.
Quiet.
The clouds were sometimes menacing but never rained on us.

Yes, the High Peaks area of the Adirondacks is a great place to hike out to some peace and quiet, other than the buzz of mosquitoes...
The naming conventions of water is pretty loose in the Adirondacks...

I used to go into the Daniel Boone national forest to primitive camp and found- rediscovered fireplaces with the cabins burnt down. It appeared large fires consumed many cabins and the inhabitants left.

Thanks Joe. Its great when the history of the use of a place is still there. We primarily go out to the woods for a sense of the primordial. But the passage of human history is provocative as well.
