I always have my 70-200 with me. I might need it and I definitely need the exercise.

I think they're my most used kit at the moment. I think I'd take my 580EX II as well just in case I needed it as well. I find on full frame, that the 24-105 is nice to sling on my shoulder and walk about when I am just getting away. Good range for pretty much whatever happens along and yet if I don't shoot it all day it's not in the way or a big deal. If I am going for more serious "getting the shot" then forget about it, I just lugged 35lbs of cameras and lenses in a back pack all around Africa for two weeks to get great shots! Shoulder is still recovering but worth every second of soreness! gjoyce3 Mostly Lurking 13 posts Joined May 2011 More info | Are you going on vaca with family or others that will demand you attention? If so, take the 24-105 and be done with it. You will not want to fuss around and switch lenses - nor will the other people in your party want to stand around while you figure out the best lens for the shot and switch to it (and back again to get the alternative shot). And if you want to be in the shot, good luck handing the 70-200 off to someone esle to take said shot. If it is just you wandering around, take whatever you want. 5DMKIII|7DMK2|35 1.4|50 1.8|65 Macro|100L Macro|85 1.8|120-300 2.8 Sport|70-200 2.8L II|

Sep 06, 2012 17:16 | #22 It's just me being away this time. As mentioned the 200 was purely for the zoo as the last time I went to a zoo I only had the 24-105. Yes the 200 isn't close enough, I do have a 400 but it's too heavy and big compared to 200.

L.J.G. "Not brigth enough" More info | Sep 06, 2012 18:00 | #25 I travel quite a bit and when I brought the 70-200 I agonised over the F2.8 IS II or the F4 IS. In the end because of size and weight issues I went with the F4 IS. I never leave home without it and find I use it and my 24-105 the most. I find myself getting the 70-200 out at every opportunity I can, in fact I use it more for landscape type shots than for people shots. I've since brought a 24-70 and now wonder if I should have put up with the weight and size penalty and gone with the f2.8 because I love the wider aperture. Lloyd
