A friend of mine showed my pictures to her boss, he wants photos for his site. Im not sure what I would charge for something like this, I dont want to scare him off.

I believe he's asking for like 10 shots probably inside and out, its a hotel. I figure time shooting and time to post.

Could I get some pointers

Ask him what his budget and expectations are.

^^ I agree. Ive found it's best to get their expectations, budget wise, then work from there. Otherwise you could ask too much or too little, loose the job or do the job for less than the guy expected. Get a handle on his expectations then you have a datum you can either work with or move from.

More details. What are the photos of? How long will it take to produce them? How many prints will be made? Will they be in one hotel or many? Do they want exclusive unlimited rights?

I bet he wants to pay someone $50 for some nice snaps, not $5000 to a professional to create art.

USEAGE.

You need to charge separately for the shoot (this is your artist fee) and for the useage. Find out how the owner wants to use them and for what duration.

You also want to find out what the going rate is in your area for this type of photography and usage. Different areas have different rates, NYC will be more than the same shoot in Nashville.
