Found this last night. At first I thought it was a very very small owl :oops: I wasn't really that close.

Anyways it was taken with a P&S camera at Red Deer, Alberta / approx 6" - 8"

Actually merlins are falcons and they are one notch up in size from kestrels, which are the smallest falcon; merlins are an inch longer and have wingspans two inches greater than kestrels.

oh wow! from the way it flew down. It really looked small. It doesn't even looked like it can carry a small mice :D
