I just traded in a broken film rebel that I got on ebay for $7 (plus shipping.) They do take point-and shoot-cameras. I think criteria is it must be over a year old, and broken in some way - broken battery door is fine. If in doubt give them a call.

I used a broken point and shoot Canon that was a couple years old. It would turn on, but never focus. I ordered through CLP about a month ago. They asked for the serial number while I was placing the order.

If you weren't aware, I think for the 5DMii, the discount is only 10%, not 20%.

I bought a broken point and shoot on eBay for $3....and never even sent it in. They give the discount up front and send you a prepaid mailer. I simply forgot to mail it and never heard anything about it again.

I used a Canon film P&S last summer. I also just saw a similar camera at a Goodwill Industries Store for $3 as I recall. We also have a Salvation Army store nearby but never been there although I've been told they also have some "eligible" cameras.

^ Becareful, I was under the impression that after a certain amount of time they would just automatically charge you the difference.

I got my 7D through the CLP last November - no charge yet.

There is no packing list to enclose. The only way to verify the sender is by the very fine print on the return address. They don't check!

Nice find. That was a cute little camera. I would've had a difficult time letting that one go!

IMO, I do not think that CLP really cares about your broken camera. They now have you hooked on a new camera, and you will purchase lenses/filters/flashes/memory cards/etc for it. That is how they will get your money.
