I'm probably gonna get raked on the coals for this, but here it is .. I live for the drama, and I like the image :)

It's too tall, isn't it? A square crop would probably work best, but then I'd lose part of that golden patch mid picture in the clouds.

If this is what you had, what would you do to fix the compo/frame? Thanks in advance and have a great weekend everyone!!!

Again, you have clobbered the sky! ...and way too much of it.
Too much black in the tonemap processing.
As far as subject goes, I would have preferred a straight landscape - the house is too far away. If there is interest in the house - move in closer and frame the house.

- consider yourself raked :)

Ever since I've started posting stuff for C/C, I have been trying to wean myself from extreme tonemapping .. I'm still a work in progress :) So help me, I'm overcooking and I didn't even know it!!

Just a little snippet of the location: this is a working farm off I-75N between Lexington and Georgetown in Kentucky. I have driven by this place on my way to work ever since January 1990 :)

Ever since I took up digital photography last year, I have meant to stop by there and take a few snaps especially when the sky is awesome like this. Anyhoo, I finally stopped on the shoulder one day, rolled the passenger side window down, leaned over, and did the best I could. I have some others that I will post later. There is 25-30' thick brush between the rumble strip on the highway and the barbed wire fence and I won't go into the brush anymore since I got KILLED by chiggers and spiders last year :p. That house is about a quarter of a mile from the fence and I did the best I could. Maybe the winter I'll grow enough balls and walk over to the fence with a tripod.

Tone down the sky a bit, highlight the house a bit, crop it a bit tighter and I think you'll have a keeper!

Still a bit overdone for my taste, but much, much better.

I think your original crop is good; but you might open up the shadows a bit.
