Well the 10-22 just got here. IT is dark outside so I may try some flash shots to test it until the sun comes up tomorrow. Hope this lives up to its reputation. I just wish there was a 10-22 f2.8 lens available.

Let us know how the flash shots turn out - the specs for the 430EX says it covers 24mm. I'm wondering if that is adjusted on the Rebel XT, since the 10-22 provides coverage similar to a 16-35.

Have Fun,

Rick

The 430EX has a flip down diffuser to extend the coverage to 14mm. I believe they are referring to 14mm in a full frame capacity.

I got stuff for taking pictures. :o When things are unclear - It's time to refocus.

I have big hopes for this lens. But wow the hood is really something else.

Yea thats the same hood for the 17-40L ... its intended for use on a full frame camera. I wonder how the EW-83DII Lens Hood would work on the 10-20 EF-S?

Its also the same hood that comes with the 16-35 L. The EF-S 10-22 has approximately the same angles of view as the 16-35, so the hood should be just about right.

Have Fun,

Hood? You got a hood with yours? Or you get it separately?

The hood sucks, I can't believe a lens of APS-C needs this hood? I leave the hood at home 99% of the time on account of it's size.

That's why I wonder how the EW-83DII Lens Hood would do. Maybe now I need to visit my fellow POTN neighbor > vjack since he has this lens. That way I'd know for sure if it caused any problems in the images.

The ew-83dII won't work at the wide end. You'll get some pretty bad vignetting. I agree with you guys about the hood being huge! It looks like a Mexican sombrero. :D
