Stray bird bottom right. Would have actually been better if the bird was completely in the pic, and in focus, as this could have given some sizing reference point.

Personally, I like the first image better...it looks more natural/authentic.

Cloud shots without context almost never work. We cant see the full specter like you are remembering, therefor it doesn't work for most. It is a good idea to get cloud formations... but they need something else in the shot to make them work.

I think the edit is okay, if you were going for the brighter, more contrasty looking sky... like in a nice colourful landscape shot. If you were shooting a haunted house or imposing castle, then the original might be better?

On a different note, there are a number of spots (aside from the bird) so maybe worth cleaning your lens?
