I have a fun and interesting little editing project I want to do and have no idea where to begin. I want to take a "tablet" type pill such as this:

https://healthy.kaiserpermanente.org …gency/images/BRR09720.JPG (external link)

and add my own custom words and symbols on it. I have tried googling "Photoshop pill" and numerous other variations, but just get a bunch of tutorials on how to develop a smooth, elongated capsule-type pill from scratch. I want to take an existing, "uncoated" tablet with the words etched/engraved into it and replace them with my own.

I would need to basically turn it into a blank pill but keep all the texture, and then "engrave" my own stuff onto it. Any guidance to get me in the right direction? I have a good understanding of Photoshop in general, but more for just general photography touch-ups and what not. Enlighten me!

All I did was clone out the existing text, add your name, and apply a layer style to the text layer playing with Emboss.

That looks awesome. I have the pills cloned now no problem but having problems with the text. I'm playing around with emboss and bevel fx but not getting anything like you did--what settings did you use for the emboss?

I didn't keep the psd, but try Style - Emboss, Technique - Smooth, Depth - around 70%, Direction - down, Size - 1 or 2 px, Soften - 0 px. Play around with the Depth setting.
