85mm :(

I bought the 85mm a few months ago and am happy with the lens on my 1d. For me the 50mm was more of a walk around lens but made some fantastic captures with this lens.

I used my 85mm 1.8 at a local football game last night and I think it worked pretty well.

Exactly. It depends on what you're doing and what you're used to. Others may take portraits with a 70-200.

If you have the room then move back. I take it you checked prior to buying the lens that the focal length was ideal. Worst case since you seem to like it that much, keep it and adapt to it.

85 x1.3 = 110.

100 and 105mm lenses have long been considered classic portrait length. That's pretty much what you have. I think it would be PERFECT for individual portraiture.
