One of the best baseball photos ever taken was in 1910 with a large format camera on a tripod in foul territory where a third base coach would stand. http://emjfotografi.com/

Something fishy. After seeing this, I can remember seeing old photos of D'Maggio, Ted Williams and Babe Ruth swinging the bat from the vantage point where the guys are shooting. Again, this was an image from 1938 when having cameras on field was apparently allowed. Canon 5D2 > 35L-85L-135L
