Cool. Get your butt down there and sucker him into buying a 20x30 inch poster of himself!

Being fairly new to photography I am trying to be a jack of all trades at the moment. I just love trying to photograph something new that I havn't tried before.

What I really like is setting myself, or having someone else set me a particular "mission". If it is for someone else I then try everything I can to exceed their expectations of me. I don't always succeed, but the effort of trying usually means that I end up with some pleasing results and have a lot of fun getting them.

Though to my mind photographing people, and catching a particular emotion or moment is the most challenging and rewarding. I especially like photographing people who don't like being photographed "because I don't take good photographs!!!" and surprising them with how well they can look, though I'm still not always successful.

Photojournalism background. And sports specifically from that spectrum, but I do like that realm, and it leads to some wedding/event photography I do.

Capturing something that isn't setup is always fun, although doing the occassional portrait/environmental portrait is always fun and challenging.

I dont really consider myself a photographer...kinda like I play the drums, but dont feel good enough to call myself a drummer. But my favorites are Portraits and landscapes. I dont get out enough to take landscapes like I want and I'm hoping for a better lens and some lighting to take portraits. I have ALOT to learn about my camera. Got frustrated with it last night trying to figure stuff out. Anyway....here are a couple of examples below. I'm not that great, but if it brings me joy, then that's good enough.

WOW... I see some really awesome shots here. I even don't mind that the dirt track pics were used on a people board...lol. CDI...They're fantastic and your panning skills are off the hook. Too bad about the paper selling your photos... did you get any kind of compensation for it?

Dante... you keep breaking the rules. Few people can get away with it but you're one of them. I saw that one of the little girl on another thread and she is just so dang cute and the picture is awesome.

Andreas... your pictures are beautiful. The first one is especially moving.

Malla... 250mm to pick off that Spitfire? Was he close or did you crop it some? Either way, it's a fantastic image... and that landscape... WOW! Very powerful.

Pamela, I'm rapidly becoming a huge fan of your photos. I think after looking at these three, it's safe to call yourself a photographer. :P I've seen some other shots of your little girl and you do have a knack of catching her eyes in such a way that I can almost tell what she's thinking.

I prefer people but I am known to take a photo of anything. I shoot weddings at my own discretion, engagement photos, newborns, families & landscape.

But my favorite subject is my grandson. Most everyone knows that :)

I am also not real fussy about every tiny detail. I don't think I could enjoy it as much. I like to capture moments and emotions. To me, that is what makes a picture special.... not the perfect lighting or pose.

I knew it too Maureen... You're also really good with Photoshop too. ;) You are a lot like me in some respects. I am also more concerned about capturing the moment than with perfect lighting and so on. In any portrait, the lighting and background and anything techincal can be duplicated at will... Moments can not.

Even though I work for a portrait studio, and I spend all day most every day taking pictures of people, I find that I am more of a still life sort of guy. Few people "get" my photography, but galleries and artsy sort of folks seem to like it.

Im not sure if im a photographer or an artist or a cook, my work is quite dark, i like capturing a feeling or an atmosphere, im not realy sure what im doing, I enjoy texture and images that have a human quality, not too crisp and clean?
