River, that is outstanding work. I am a huge fan of gritty realism with a bit of surreal on the side. Beautiful.

I love trains, and I live in a place where there are lots of them to photograph. Probably 7 out of 10 shots I take are of trains, and the rest are test shots of almost anything, usually taken trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong with my train shots.

This is a repeat. It was taken last February, which was very wet here. Everything was a little greener than usual, and it provided for a memorable photo, not so much for the quality of the image, but the unusually heavy vegetation for this part of the world.

Ive been mad on photography since my father gave me a little agfa instant camera when I was 12, Im 46 now and still love it. I am a member of a photography club and slowly most are coming over to digital which i never thought would happen when I first joined them.

I like to shoot moving objects, mostly wildlife and sports but will do people as well

I will shoot anything. I will try anything new that I haven't already taken photos of. So far professionally I've only done car photograpy but we all know that you always have something new to learn with photography.

River Cottage: Please please please teach me how you did those kinda shots! Film? Post processing? I've always wanted to do those moody contrasty shots but my PP is really lacking.

(If you could start a tutorial thread in the PP forum I would glad =))

Me too. At this stage, if I had to name the type of photographer I am, it would be a very bad one. I wish I could take pictures like I see on this forum. Maybe some day.

bannedPermanent ban

I shoot, primarily, live bands.

That said, I've been branching out and forcing myself to do different kinds of shooting, as it turns out I like to shoot more often than bands like to have me shoot them.

All of my DSLR training has been from POTN University. Fine bunch of professors there, and the hours are flexible.

Here's a live band shot:

And here are some other directions I find myself going these days:

If I had my way, I'd shoot nothing but bands. I rarely get my way, however, so I need to go find things to occupy my time. I've found that I'm now willing to wake up at some offensive hour of the morning to go out to try to get a good sunrise shot or, like this morning, some surfing pictures.

My focus with photography is actually diffusing into anything but a focus which, I think, makes this a lot more fun...

I was going to say the exact same thing. I do try my hardest to take pictures when people aren't aware of me, so I can get the best expressions. I try to take pictures of anything and everything. I've found a peassion with little kids and people among my own age group. I like trying to capture a piece of their personality that tells a story. Besides the whole my parents help me with paying for my hobby, trying to do something with my photography and trying to expand on it is tough since I still haven't graduated High School and I'm currently unemployed. I'm sort of stuck with all the same models, my family and close friends/family friends. I try to work with it. I enjoy macro, a lot. I love capturing details you can't see with the naked eye. Over all, I try my hardest. It's not much help when my home-critiques think that a picture of a rain drop that's not composed, out of focus, and contains motion blur, is excellent. I'm constantly reading photography magazines and always have my camera on hand. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

Ok, I guess all I can say is that I am doing everything I can to become a photographer, but I am far from being anything near pro (or even amateur some days :) ).

With that being said, I love shooting almost everything, but my kids are my favorite. I have done a wedding, and I take family portraits for friends right now in hopes of branching out in the future. Here are a few of my favorites...
