I like the shot, just scratching my head a little about seeing a full moon on the same side of the earth as the Sun. I would expect to see a crescent moon pointing toward the sun.

Got a camera, some cheap glass, one nice glass, a PC which doubles as my darkroom and a lot to learn - and having fun learning.
Taking a picture is like planting a memory, it grows more beautiful with time.

Thanks. Yeah I never thought about that until you mentioned it. I guess the angles between the moon the sun and the earth were just right.

I like this shot, but yeah it is weird that the sun and full moon are in the same direction. Maybe some cosmologists amongst us will explain.
It seems pretty flat so I took a stab at pumping saturation and brightness a bit. Maybe a bit too much for some tastes.

Thanks QBX. It was actually quite dark when I took the photo and I wanted to retain the night feel of the shot without overdoing it but I can see that it needed a little more and I like what you did there. It will help me finalize this!

Thanks for the comments.

It's either a sunrise/moonrise, or a sunset/moonset... they both rise in the east, and set in the west...

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

Great concept, and I like Qbx edit, although I would like to see the sky on the left darkened back up a bit.

Really nice photo. I actually like the original photo better than the edit - the darker colors give it more of a night-time feel.

Well I beg to differ! The moon was not out all day this day. Once late afternoon came and the sun went down the moon came up over the horizon. To me this is a moonrise during a sunset.
I think that the moon had initially been low in the sky and peeked its head around late in the day. As you say the moon follows the sun then based on my photo the moon should continue to rise and begin to fall when it reached the midpoint of my shot.

Thanks Oeijur. Thats The kind of look I want but I do feel its lacking. Gonna put up a new one soon.

Ummm... on Friday, Aug 24, 2012, at 20:11 (8:11pm), when the shot was taken, the sun had set at 19:41 (7:41pm) at 285°(W), and the moon set at 23:60 (Midnight) at 242°(W). The moon rose at 14:08 (2:08pm) at 118°(E).

So once again I say, you have a sunset moonset. This is of course unless the moon rises in the west in New Jersy, unlike the rest of the world. ;)

Are some under the assumption that this was a photoshop trick? If I'm reading it correctly, this is what he saw when he pointed the camera at the sky. What to call it is another issue, but I like the sky. The foreground is great, just needs some different lighting (for me).

I like the original over the edit, the edit is too saturated for me.

I don't think anyone thinks it's a PS'd image (other than basic editing, but not a composite). I plan on doing a similar shot next Sunday (I think that's when they set together again).

If you watch the golden hour/blue hour calendar, you can plan these shots. I really like it, BTW!
