Hi all, been trying some stuff with my new Sigma Lens, and thought I would post some of the water drops and their reflections...

Don't know if they're any good, so please C+C so that I can get better cause it seems to me that it is a little off.

Thanks.

I am curious what lens you are shooting these with?

They seem out of focus, maybe you are too close to your subject.

just a few of my thoughts...

Not bad for first go.
If you are shooting handheld with natural light anywhere near minimum focus with the 105mm lens then I would use a shutter speed of at least 1/200th if not faster

Pierre, I am shooting with a Sigma 105mm EX macro with the image stabilization on, with the Vivitar extension rings (totaling 65mm). Maybe it's my eye as I am using manual focus and not the AF.

Thanks for the info Brian, I will try having the exposure speed set to 1/200th at a minimum.

When I looked at the EXIF data for those pictures, they ranged from 1/50th to 1/100 so maybe that is also to blame.

I'm waiting for my flash cord to come and then I have the fun of trying to get a bracket to get the flash to the front of the lens.... Fun Fun Fun... :)

yes they appear to be soft, and the slow shutter speed would account for some of that, for sure.

I really like the first shot, the texture of the flowers and that little aphid to set it off.
