Just bought a brand new in box Canon T3i for my daughter's birthday. She's been using it for about 3 weeks. Today she noticed that the "On/Off" button no longer "clicks" when you turn it on or off. Rather, it "glides" in both directions. Doesn't seem to be affecting anything as the camera still turns on and off but am wondering whether the fact that it no longer "clicks" when moved but instead "slides" should be any cause for concern. Thx.

Perhaps phone Canon and get an RMA number to send it in for repair under warranty.

If you're within your return period, take it back and tell them that it is defective.

+1 I wouldn't want a camera that you need to send in for repairs less then 3 weeks of owning it

Thx.--Bought it from Amazon (less than 30 days ago) and am shipping it back to them for a replacement.

@Bogino,
Inform your daughter that her camera will turn itself off after 30 seconds to a minute- depending upon the model. Let her know that it's not necessary to flip the switch- it's often more convenient to press a button to fire it up- plus it saves wear and tear on the switch.. Most camera owners don't even consider this- at least til they notice someone else using this methodology.

Regardless- yep- send it back- should not have failed in such a short time.
