Help! Question...

I have a Canon EOS XTi ten megapixel camera. I have had it for about 5 years now and lately when taking pictures one comes out just fine but the next one will be blurry. I am using the automatic focus on my lenses. They all turn out fine when using manual focus, but that doesn't work well when doing continuous shooting. I know my lenses are still ok, but I am afraid that the camera body is messing up and need to get a new one. Any ideas or has anyone experienced this too? Any help will be appreciated. :) This problem is making me crazy.

What focus setting have you got it on, i.e. single shot, ai servo, ai focus ?

AI focus and AI servo might be causing the issue, taking it once, the camera will try and focus again but if you have pressed the shutterspeed pretty quickly after the first, you probably will get a of-out-focus pic as it hasnt had time to refocus.

Works in manual because its staying on the last focus and not trying to re-focus.

I tend to use just AI focus and Single Shot focus with AF on, on the lens. AI Servo is a bugger if the subject moves quite a bit... Hope that helps and if im wrong, hopefully someone will correct me :)

You put this question in the wrong section. Try the Digital Camera section.
This is of no help to you because I have not sent mine into Canon yet, but I just bought a 60D due to the fact that my XTi is having focus issues in AIServo. I wanted a newer camera anyways. I will send in to Canon to see about it pretty soon though.
Sorry I couldn't help much.

Thanks for your input. I didn't think of that and I checked my camera. I was in AI mode and when it's in the auto modes it is automatically checked. i will put the question in another area. Thanks, it did help. I want a newer one anyway too, but my husband wants me to do this first. LOL. Thanks again.

My Rebel works well in one shot mode. Hunts and misses focus a lot in AI servo. My 60D does way better in AI servo, I use it a lot when taking pictures at our local team roping. Way more keepers with the 60D. I don't remember the Rebel always having this problem so I do plan to send it in to see if it can be fixed and cleaned. Still is a good camera and I will probably hold onto it for a while.
