I JUST got this lens, and I know its not a TRUE macro lens but... I figure i give it a shot. I was like 5 inches away at 75mm when i took this.

Please let me know how it turnd out. f/2.8 @ 800 ISO, 75mm.

Do you think Extension Tubes would make this a better macro lens? I also want to get a 70-200 for use with MACRO/Extension Tubes. Do you think it would be a worthy replacement for a 100mm Canon Macro?

Macro in Tamron speak means: high magnification factor. This is indeed not a true macro lens, but you can get amazing results with it. Plus, it focuses close to the subject.
With the extension tubes, you would get even better close focusing thus obtaining a better "macro" lens. But then you'll need lots of light.

this shot is good, sharp. Get the Extension tubes, look in my gallery, most of my shots were taken with a Tamron 28-300 with extension tubes, now using a 90-300 Canon with extension tubes, the tubes wont replace a Canon 100 Macro, but will give you exceptional shots with more working room depending on the lens used. A simple flash will suffice to make up for light loss. hope this helps.:D

For the record here is minimum focus with the 28-75 at 75mm and then with a cheap 13mm extn tube (more extn is possible but working distance becomes negligble and you would need off shoe flash) Both these f13 with 430ex flash at iso 100:
