I know where you are coming fomr Suzy, I have several friends that keep talking about let me take photos for them but they never come through. I figure it's their loss. Sometimes it works out though. Ihad some friends come over for what I thought was going to be a family session and they told me they just wanted pics of their little girl. OK, no problem. When it was obvious the girl was just about done I said to the parents, "go on and sit down with her and we will see what happens". Well, we ended up with a great shot of the three of them that they have ordered copies of for their whole family. You win some, you lose some.......Hang in there

John

Thanks. I especially bought equipment to do portraits here in my home, so I was disappointed, but not giving up. Thanks for the encouragement. It just may happen, just not this week.

The sad part to me is that she still looks the same regardless of taking any pictures. If someone sees her in person or in a photograph she still looks the same. Unless she is photoshopped in which case she doesn't need to look her best that will be "fixed" in the computer. But I just don't understand why someone would not want their picture taken because they are afraid of what people will see. They already see it, live and in color. Anyway sorry to kind of rant, just my two cents.

My wife hates to have her picture taken. Every time the camera is pointed at her she turns away or makes a weird expression with her face. So I actually have very few pics of her. Way before I meet my wife I took a lot of nice pictures (film) of a girlfriend of mine. My wife knew about the pics a fussed at me for having a lot of pictures of the former girlfriend, but very few of her. Sometimes you just can't win. (she is now allowing me to take pictures of her more often, just took 12 years for her to do it.)

I know. The really sad part is that my friend is stunningly beautiful, bright eyes, great face, not fat, by any stretch. But she's had 4 children and thinks the years have been bad to her. If she could only see herself through the eyes of those who really see her. I also don't like being in pictures because I'm not 20 and thin anymore, but this is me and I would change, if I really wanted to. So, I don't cry over the wide angle shots of my mid-parts. I understand that this is what I look like now and it really doesn't bother me enough to change me. Is that the sign of someone who accepts him/herself, or am I just in denial? I'll have to psychoanalyze this one for a while. ;)

My experience has been that the people who don't want to be photographed really enjoy seeing good photos of themselves. And it's interesting that in my experience those who don't want to be photographed are generally women.

Just my .02:
My sister used to force me to pose with her children. I hated it, it was humiliating and stressful. I am glad you didn't force the issue, kudos to you.
