xSi cable not functioning

My usb cable to pc connection no longer works. I have tried several different cables, and two different computers. No luck. (It did previously work.)

So sure, I just use a card reader to transfer. BUT my concern is that there may be more to the problem and I am approaching a major hardware issue. We will be going on a big trip this fall and I want to have a reliable camera with me. I am considering a t3i body, but I don't want to incur the expense unless.....

Any other thoughts?

Just means you've lost the USB on your camera, doesn't mean anything else is wrong. I'd just use the card reader and forget about it.
