A99 has an all new dual PD AF system. I quote their official annoucement:

The new α99 digital camera features a unique dual AF system, a world’s first for digital cameras. This camera’s main focusing system – a 19-point AF system with 11 cross sensors - is complemented by a 102-point focal plane phase-detection AF sensor overlaying the main image sensor.

So. Let me get this straight. The only reason for the pellicle mirror and dumping 1/3rd of the available light (which counteracts FF's main advantage) is PDAF which they have put on the sensor anyhow. As well.

This will be creamed for high ISO by even the RX1.

And yes sony make nikon sensors, nikon add their own magic to them which is why in every implementation so far nikon have been ahead of sony on IQ by a fair margin.

The AF Range thing sounds neat actually, In-camera focus limiter... Cool

Yes Sony got it right to introduce autofocusing into video capture part of DSLRs and two thumbs up for that.

The problem while shooting video with my A55 I have is that sensor warms up pretty quick. Probably first time, after about one and half minutes of shooting and there after every 15 - 20 second. So practically unless you are shooting clips of few seconds, you land up with problem in going beyond a certain time frame.

I hope A99 has no such problem.

D600 just kicked Sony in the pants. A99 needs to drop to $2000 now.

Or maybe Sony will avenge this by selling Nikon non-planar sensors that would cause misfocus on one side... oops! :D

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

RIP Sony A99, cheapest new full frame DLR/T for those on a budget, September 12th 2012-September 13th 2012. Alas your shelf life was tragically cut short.

LOL Sony ALWAYS get their @$$ kicked whenever they release a flagship FF. 5D2 stole A900's spot light and now D600 stole A99's

Everyone has known about the D600 for weeks now, and it's even priced higher than rumored. Sony had fair warning and yet they set pricing all wrong.

The A99 has quite a few things in it that the D600 doesnt, a 1/8000 shutter for one, and a higher burst rate... its more of a 5D3 or D800 competetor than a D600 competetor...

That said being priced more like $2300 would possibly get a few Canon or Nikon folks to pick one up

The A99 does not really need to fear the D600. As mentioned before, much better features in there. Especially for video it will be a runner, as it has clean HDMI out! This feature is worth the extra bucks alone.
