Is a dslr camera with an autofocus motor better?

In the Nikon world a body without an autofocus motor will autofocus only with newer lenses with built in motors (AF-S lenses). Older AF-D lenses do not have a motor and rely on the bodies motor using a screw-drive. They can be used but will be manual focus only.

If so which one is the best?

If you want to buy a Nikon, either a D800E or D4, depending on what you are photographing.

I am looking for a nikon dslr but I don't know which camera is best for me.

I am new to photography and I like to shoot stuff close (autofocus) and shoot objects with low shutter speeds

Is a dslr camera with an autofocus motor better? If so which one is the best?

The best digital single-lens reflex camera on the market is the Hasselblad H4D-200MS. (external link)

What's this? (external link)

It's the best of the Hasselblad medium-format digital bodies? Never heard of it? Well, many of this forum's users are familiar with only the digital cameras that are the successors of the 35mm film SLR's from the 1990's, and are not aware that there are many other film formats. The Hasselblad line of medium format cameras has long been used by photographers who prefer medium format film for its larger imaging surface. The Hasselblad H-series cameras are the latest digital version of those cameras.

Hasselblads are typically not thought of as single-lens reflex cameras by the average user of this forum, but they meet the technical definition of a SLR. They're just styled differently than the 35mm-camera based units. Hasselblads are also far more expensive than other DSLR's; the H4D-200MS costs US $36,000, and lenses are priced at several thousand dollars, but, hey, if it's the best, it's worth the price and you're going to run right out and buy, one, correct?

first post from the OP- I am thinking this is a troll.

But- my 2 cents- the first camera should be one that won't cost more than your interest in the hobby can justify. If you buy new, you lose a percentage as you open the box or walk out of the store. The instant depreciation of a 5dmkIII is probably more than the cost of a good used 30D that will help you decide if you really want the best body available someday. And if you take reasonable care of it, you can probably recoup the cost of the 30D or have a good back up if you keep it.

one thing to consider- you might want to think about the battery used by the camera you hope to buy someday and find a used camera that uses the same battery. Then when you upgrade you only have to recharge and carry 1 style and the backup camera is capable of being a battery doner if the no 1 camera runs out of juice. (That has been my most common reason for needing a backup by far, I have never had a camera problem in the field that I couldn't fix with a new battery or a rocket blower).
