Edit - It turns out to be a Folsomia candida
Found this guy in some moss I had brought in to look at under the microscope. Moss is usually a great source of Rotifers and other microscopic life, but I rarely look at it with my lower power stereo microscope, because it does not have a place to connect the camera to for good images. I was able to suck this guy up in a pipette and transfer him to a slide for viewing under the more powerful Fluophot Lab scope. I was only able to get a couple minutes of video at 40x and then at 100x before he engaged his spring, which I never did see. It did appear he had a hitchhiking parasite though, on his belly. Look for that in the last few seconds of the video. Or maybe that was a coil spring?
