Well the fix for firmware 2.0 is here! Should I upgrade now?

See Canon UK site:-

FAQ: EOS 7D Latest Firmware Update [Version 2.0.3 - Added 12 September 2012]
Issue

Firmware version 2.0.3 incorporates the following fixes.

1. Fixes a phenomenon in which the camera stops working when the auto power off setting takes effect.

2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the maximum number of images that can be captured in a burst may be less than the actual number displayed in the viewfinder.

3. Corrects some errors in the message displayed on the LCD screen when saving RAW images developed in the camera (these errors do not appear in the Japanese and Korean language displays).

The fixes listed above are corrections for the phenomena experienced with firmware version 2.0.0. These phenomena will not occur in firmware version 1.2.5 or before.

Updating the camera’s firmware to version 2.0.0 / 2.0.3 from version 1.2.5 or before, will incorporate many new functions into the camera. For the details of these new functions, please see
the “Version 2.0.0 improvements” in the history of past firmware updates.

I did the 2.0.3 upgrade this morning. I had no problems with 2.0.0 and all 2.0.3 did was to make me need to set the camera Date/Time/Zone. Camera still works fine, just as it did before.

Just checked with Canon UK support on Windows 7 it shows the .FIR as 17,055 kb and that is the right file, according to them.

Appparently different versions of Windows count the file size slightly differently - wierd to me but who cares if they say it is the right one!

Mike
How long did it actually take from the time you started the update [In the camera]?
By that I mean [assuming the .FIR was loaded in the CF root] the actual update process carried out by the camera.
Regards
Peter

It did seem a little slower than previous firmware upgrades. Did you notice it too?

I should have said that the compressed file showed as 18,633 kb i.e. the same as it did on Mike's screen shot.

Sorry I was being a scaredy cat and asking how many minutes did yours take?
I haven't done it yet.
As I was checking why mine file did not show as 18.2MB [as per the instructions].

Just nervous as this will be my 1st Canon upgrade.

So what does 2.0.3 bring to the table? Any new features?

Been using fw2.0 on the 7d and no problems thus far.

When I flashed in 2.0 I had to reset and calibrate alot of stuff. From Home AF point to button reassignments. Most of the CFn were reset too. I would like to avoid that.
