7D Latest Firmware Ver 2.0.3 Available - Fixes Ver 2.0 Freezing

2.0.0 and 2.0.3 did not effect any of my Custom Functions or selections.

Update is Complete
Ver 1.25 to 2.0.3 press set for OK
and I thought you then turned the camera off but mine is asking for the date and time.
By the time I'd double checked it. The screen was blank.
So I turned off the camera and waited a couple of minutes and turned it on. It then asked for the date and time and I put this in [albeit out of sequence for the camera but in sequence for the instructions] all seems wel and it takes pictures.
Just interested when yours said Update Complete did it go straight into date and time setting or did your screen turn off [I.e. go black].

I assume as it say Ver 2.0.3 in the menu and all seems to work. It's updated itself properly?

There also seems to be some new picture evaluation menu items so I guess I'm on 2.0.3!

I "upgraded" to 2.0.0 right when it came out... then started to see posts about people having trouble it. Fortunately my cameras are working fine, no freezing... So I think this time I'll wait and see if there are any reports of issues with 2.0.3 before I adopt it. Let someone else do the beta testing, I've got a busy weekend coming up and really can't afford to have any issues.

So long as you turn the camera off for a couple seconds after getting the confrimation message that the update is complete, you should be good to go when you turn it back on, but will need to reset the time/date. It now has time zones built in and is more compex. Note that you need to update EOS Utilities (and possibly some other softwares) on your computer, too... Coming from any pre 2.0.0 firmware to it or 2.0.3. The earlier version of EOS Utilities won't work right with the new firmware.

I have had no problems with 2.0.0 should I upgrade ?

Oh well heres a confession. I got thrown by the date and time sequence coming up after it said 'update completed', that I just realised I only turned the Camera off for a couple of minutes, and forgot to take the battery out or format the card.
Well I turned it back on and the version menu said Ver. 2.0.3 and I took a picture - all worked.
Then I realised I'd forgotten to take the battery out!
OK I switched it off and took out the battery waited a few minutes and put it back and turned it on and formatted the card.
All seems to still work fine.
So should I just leave it or reload the firmware and follow the sequence properly?

Apart from the star rating feature on the images are there any other uniqiue features I can check to be sure I have the whole version 2.0.3 upgrade working?

have any of you noticed that EOSCOUNT.COM (on-line app that gives shutter count on the 7D) seems to no longer work on the Firmware 2.0. That's the only thing that has changed on my camera so I assume it seems to incompatible with the current firmware.

Connecting it reads the camera but shutter count shows up as "UNAVAILABLE" anyone else seen this recently running 2.0?

All that is changed is that there is now a $1.49 charge for using the program.

If it didn't work you would have a doorstop rather than a camera. My 7D arrived yesterday and I upgraded the firmware today .. I didn't remove the battery either.

Very reassuring, yes and I am enjoying it. Hope you do too.
Like you mine is relatively new [only a few weeks old] - so getting a 'present' out of the blue like new functionality is a really nice surprise.
Especially as it probably means they won't replace it at Photokina, which gives it an extended lifespan as Canon's top APS C body.

I just picked up a used 7d, upgraded to to 2.03 from 1.25 no issues, recognized the new firmware right away.

Tomorrow it goes out for it's first real test

My 7D unfortunately was one that did freeze. It was annoying having to take the battery out to reset it. I guess I'll see with the revised firmware!
