Dougery Member 57 posts Joined Mar 2003 More info | Sep 12, 2012 13:18 | #2 I saw a video of a Canon rep giving his "unofficial" recommendations of what conditions you can expose the 7d and 5d mark III to. I believe he said you should only expose it to conditions where you would feel comfortable only wearing a sweater. I believe he then mentioned something about its ok in a light drizzle. I'm sure he's CYA by being on the conservative side, but it's definitely not up to the 1d level of weatherproofing. The issues ive read about with the 7d seemed to revolve around failure from water seeping through the pop up flash. I have more faith in the sealing on the mk III but unlike that story you linked, I would be super cautious around salt water. Salt water just corrodes and kills electronics.
