Minolta to Canon adapter

I just got a minolta 58mm f1.2 for free and was wondering how I can use this on my 5d Mark II. Please comment ur experiences and thoughts!

I did the Jim Buchanan conversion,kit costs about $80, but this will only work on a 1.6 cropper
otherwise the mirror hits the lens when focused past about four feet.You can shave the mirror on a FF
and then it will work but I would just enjoy it on your 7D. If you Google Jim Buchanan conversion
you'll find it.

Yes, but in order to mauntain infinity focus with Minolta lenses on EOS bodies, they have glass or plastic optics which will degrade the image. Read about it here: http://www.bobatkins.c​om …faq/manual_focu​s_EOS.html

If you buy an adatper with no glass, it will only be usable at very close distances.(2 or 3 feet ?) Sort of like a Macro lens.

Minolta 50mm 1.2 lenses are rare and highly sought after by Mirrorless camera users because they have no problems with compatibility. Your best option is to sell it for about $400-$500 then and use the money for an older manual lens lens which will work more easily with Canon EOS. (Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, etc)

It can be done, you may need to shave the 5D mirror to reach infinity focus.
