Took the shot of a male Dung Beetle while sweeping out the pool area at home.

Then the next day or so I was walking across the parking lot at work when I saw a female of the species (i knew to look for the differences because I looked up the male as soon as I was finished taking shots of him).

People at work probably think I'm weird, getting down on my belly on the pavement with a camera pressed against my face to take close-ups of bugs. Well, they probably think I'm weird even without the camera-related behavior...

Cool, weird, bugs. But I think most folks will need to avoid thinking about what role they play in nature...

Thanks for the comments.

They are interesting to look at. Too bad I couldn't create a more interesting setting for them. I tried with the male, positioning leaves and such around, but the female was in the middle of a big barren (other than vehicles) concrete parking lot.

Nice colors! They look like metal, but, where is the dung? LOL!

The depth of field isn't deep enough to really show the leaves anyhow. I think the colours are interesting enough. Nice work!

Lovely shots, you have captured the iridescent colours wonderfully.

Thanks again everyone. Yeah, the male looks like a little metal triceratops. I suppose I have to credit the blazing Florida noon-time sun for allowing me to capture the colors so well.
