How’s the surf that time of year? Is 70-200 F2.8 to short for surf? Is there a skim scene? i'm in socal, march is traditionally the windiest month down here so i'd sure be wondering about it up there. Media Technology, Cameras & Photos

Rick_R Member More info | Feb 23, 2023 18:34 | #3141 Went over to Steamers yesterday (2/22/23) as the rest of the week is going to be bad weather (rain, snow, wind). The wind was definitely howling (gust of 20kts+) and the only really ride-able waves were in the wind shadow of the cliffs. Anywhere else it was too choppy to ride (in addition to getting blown off your board). However, in the wind shadow, the waves were up to double overhead. ![]() Everybody was having funIMAGE LINK: https://photos.smugmug.com …dited-6332-L.jpg&lb=1&s=A ![]() Enough size to rip IMAGE LINK: https://photos.smugmug.com …dited-6187-L.jpg&lb=1&s=A ![]() ![]() Just on the limits of the wind and stacked up wavesIMAGE LINK: https://photos.smugmug.com …dited-7006-L.jpg&lb=1&s=A ![]() I'm assuming the camera / phone is waterproofIMAGE LINK: https://photos.smugmug.com …/M/Edited--M.jpg&lb=1&s=A ![]() Other than the weather (cold and windy) great day. One nice thing about the wind was it kept the salt spray down and made the photos clearer. Any questions, please feel free to contact me Regards Rick

May 11, 2023 14:44 | #3147 For those with R cameras, are you shooting in mechanical or electronics shutter? I currently use a 7D2 for surf stuff and looking to go mirrorless for that part of my business. I have an R3 and 2 R6 but I want to keep them off the sand so I haven't tried one yet. Looking at the R10 or R7. Thoughts? Stuff

My R3 is the same but my R6 shows it on stick and ball sports sometimes. I figure it's not an issue with surfing but just want to make sure. The 7D2 is still holding on but its getting up there in actuations and I figure I will be needing to dump it soon. Stuff
