And he's thinking, "Hmm, I get paid for this."

All alone with nobody in the water. An easy evening in Ormond Beach, Florida.

I grew up in Southern California and could ride waves by the age of seven. I spent my teens and twenties surfing every day. Then I moved to Georgia and found out that the Atlantic Ocean, second largest on the planet, has big waves, medium waves, and small waves. I happen to live 250 miles from the smallest waves in the entire Atlantic Ocean (no joke). The nearest beach: Tybee Island. The biggest I've ever ridden it was four feet during a powerful hurricane swell, and even that flattened out at low tide. Lake flat.

Thank you. bw!

Where do you go in OC?

Wedge? Huntington?

I'd really like to give this a shot sometime this weekend.

Pat, Kevin, Butch and Eric usually shoot HB pier - with a random exception I cruise with the longboard crew from the Newport pier to 28th street jetty. Fricks (forget his real name haha) shoots the Wedge and Salt Creek.

There are lots of great breaks that really get going with a good swell, and where there are waves there are surfers! Just depending on where you are and what is closeby you can start at the bottom tip of OC and go all the way up - Trestles to Sunset Beach! The breaks that get the most attention from waves and surfers are Trestles, T-Street, Salt Creek, Strands, the Wedge when its big, Newport Pier/Blackies, all the streets in NB can fire, but 52-56 being the most intense. HB pier, HB Cliffs and then Sunset Beach.

That is a generalized but solid list I think  Go to SolSpot.com or Surfline.com and select North or South OC and see where its hitting biggest!

Had my first chance in a month or so to get out in Rhode Island to snag some shots Sunday. Attemped to swim out with my waterhousing, but not being used to fins and being a heavy day I headed back and shot from the beach. Weather wasn't ideal, but there was a lot of ripping going on.

It was hazy, rainy and we had a fog roll in about an hour into shooting, but I made the best with what I had to work with.

I see some big swell coming up next weekend. Hopefully we can get some sun for it this time! I'd like a day to paddle out too, I've been shooting the last several trips out.
