Nikon D600 official

In Australia at my local shop the D600 is priced about the same as the (discounted since release) outgoing 5D2. That being $2500 AUD

Sony also introduced their full frame A99. Can't wait to see what Canon has to offer, or if they do.

I've been sitting on the FF sidelines waiting....if this had AFMA, I would have jumped for certain. Without AFMA, I will wait to see what Canon brings to the table. I have both a 60D and a 7D and I can tell you from experience that AFMA is a very desirable feature I would not want to be without if possible.

Canon will announce something...and it will be available 6 months later

It looks very appealing. Could I possibly become a Nikon person?

Wooow, I was debating before to switch to Nikon but now it's even more appetizing. I absolutely love my Canon and didn't fancy the setup of the D700 because it just seems lack luster in terms of grip-ability. Just seemed like it did not fit in my hands as well as the Canon bodies.

What is intriguing is the MP, Price & Noise handeling. At times I find my 5d2's AF to hunt in low lighting conditions which is not appetizing for weddings, etc. I like the fact that the D600 now holds a 2 memory stick bay system Although I have never used many SD cards, I'm not generally sure of the difference other than it seems that you could lose them quite easily.(Think write speeds may be a tad slower?)

Has anyone dabbled in Nikon enough to know their lens quality?

Would a 5d2 + 1d3 combo be better than say a D600 + D3 setup or in comparison of pricing at the time being would it more or less be a 5d2 + 1d IV vs D600 + D3?

I have, and their lens quality is excellent. they're lacking some of the variety Canon offers (tilt shift comes to mind) but what they have appears to be very good.

I'm sure canon will answer with that rumored 18mp FF camera that was supposed to be around $1,800 for the body.

Yep - or a 5D-ish xxD body. We'll know, probably, in a week or so. Assuming Canon has something up their sleeve.

I'm hoping this drives 5D III down as i'm in a market for one. The 5d3 still has better iso performance and a slew of other features. Not saying this is a bad camera, it seems like nice bang for the buck.

Yeah, It's affordable, But still pretty expensive in my mind. Lets see what canon has in Mind.

Judging by the specs I think it will be pretty hard to Canon to respond to that.
This camera is almost a 5D3 copycat for 1500 dollars less!

Even if they make the 3DX using everything the 5D3 has but made of polycarbonate and with the 7D AF, it would be less a camera than the D600 is already. It would have to cost less (perhaps 1800 dollars range?) in order to compete!

I don't now if Canon has anything ready yet. More interesting to me is what Sony did for the A99. Same sensor mp as this D600 which does make you wonder if it's the same but the sony seems more full featured.
